The fish fillet was marvellous!! I couldn't ask for more *chef kiss* though it wasn't as numb or spicy as expected, but it's just right 👌 approved!Other dishes were equally yummy. Noodles was good, even the toast was good haha I love barley drink. Skewer was just so so.
Fish was definitely the star. The fried mix platter also not bad. Grilled eggplant also good. Would skip the Mantou. Skewers so so, quite tough... Scallion oil noodles ok. Definitely must try the fish. Will try the spicier one next time around.

Every time I come to Singapore, I must visit this restaurant. I don’t like spicy food. In the past, I always had Chongqing grilled fish with tofu pudding. This time I tried the grilled fish with fresh green pepper and sesame seeds. It was also great. The scallion oil noodles are also a must! It’s also a must order every time~
Slightly more pricey than its competitors but food was delicious. The staffs here are also polite, friendly and attentive to customers. You could also takeaway leftovers if you cant finish there and then. Will be back again soon to try the different seasoming of tan yu, perhaps the chongqing spicy ones.
If you are looking for a decent 酸菜鱼, this restaurant is the place for you. I was given the option to have the fish boneless so it is more convenient and safer to enjoy it. The acidity of the soup was not too overwhelming and I was allowed to refill the stock. The downside is the price. Given that I am not a fan of lamb, the lamb skewers were surprisingly good, with not a single hint of gamey taste.

Grilled fish tastes the same as other outlets, but the sides were pretty bad. Oyster was way overcooked and tougher than grilled squid. Grilled eggplant was fried but hardly grilled. Grilled scallops lacked flavour (vermicelli that is served in the scallop shell was not well flavoured). Rice was undercooked. Way too different from other outlets..

Food was great. The Chuan Chuan chicken was nice, as well as the cold noodles. The fish tasted amazing but after eating for awhile and drinking lots of the soup you get quite thirsty.Service was okay, we ordered potatoes as toppings but there was very little so we asked if they could top up and the staff did it willingly. Only mild thing that affected the experience was the staff made it quite obvious they were closing and kept keeping our plates and also told us. But understandable and not uncommon I guess.Overall quite a good first experience!
I like the restaurant layout. It gives privacy for each customer. Good place for gathering.Food overall good as always. But would be perfect if less salty. The mala potatoes is dangerously addictive. Their grilled eggplants also great.
Green pepper Fish was fresh and flavourful. We added vegetables, mushrooms and luncheon meat. There was a lingering ‘mala’ after taste. It was pretty unique but a little tad salty.Beef skewers a little too tough for my liking but seasoning was also perfect. If you haven’t tried these, go ahead and try it!
Went on a Friday night. Quite crowded. 1st time trying out of curiosity.Food - good for 1st try but too oily and spicy for us. We seldom take strong flavoured food like this. Big portion too.Service - we were seated in a corner. So need to wave hard to get servers' attention if you need help. Overall service is good.

Our favourite place for grilled fish! Been visiting for years and we love the Green pepper limbo fish! As always good customer service and yummy food. Love the atmosphere too. They have kids meal too so it's a place suitable for all!

Booked reservations on Saturday afternoon and called to check if able to add in more pax and the branch was cool with it but when it comes to reservations time there’s no table available ? I do understand for Saturday dinner timing might be pack and uncontrollable dining timing however I wasn’t expected the host boy told me “oh he can’t control the customers eating speed and time “ ?? honestly the purpose for people to make a reservation isn’t that we do not wanted to wait and queue for so long ? We waited for at least 30mins and no apologies and just keep telling me because is a big groups so he couldn’t find a table for us ?so surprise that Tan Yu are doing this kind of customer service when I had been to few branch in Singapore and so disappointed & Shame for me and my family that brought our overseas friend that day to experience this kind of service when we been telling them this is the best in Singapore .Honestly speaking I’m working in the same line so I’m trying my best to talk nicely and being nice to understand for the weekend situations but this is really 😕😕 my first time to left such a bad review . The only saving grace was the service provided by one staff member wearing glasses, who took care of our table with professionalism and courtesy. Didn’t manage to get his name but he really makes us feel better to enjoy the “dinner”

Ordered the sour veg fish fillet which came with potato slices and black fungus. Appetizing.Also ordered the steamed scallops which was okay in terms of taste but quite pricey IMO.Tried their 夫妻肺片 (sichun cold dish of thin sliced beef and offals). A bit too spicy for local taste bud, manager was sharing that today’s the first day they are offering this dish.Revisited in Oct 2023: ordered same sour veg limbo fillet as boneless hence easier to eat. Same standards. Additionally, complimentary sides were served while waiting for the main course. The marinated bamboo shoots were refreshing!
My experiences at Tanyu Westgate has always been great. 😊The food is excellent, no complains at all, only praises. The services are wonderful, polite, friendly and comfortable. They are always patient with questions and are willing to help even on things like finding out what the brand and flavour of the plum they give.I love the fact that they have a free 9-compartment snack box. It’s not a great deal yet the thought counts. It makes the experience that much more pleasant.Snacks, drinks and a sumptuous wok of veg & fish for less than $24. ❤️I highly recommend Tanyu!
The green pepper limbo fish tasted just as smooth an hour later as it did when it was just served! Impressed. It was like the fish that kept on giving because every time we thought we were done, we would discover more meat.We also had oysters which were humongous. Parents were very happy about it. The Thunder Grape drink served to quench our thirst throughout the meal.Special mention to Cindy, one of the staff who served us. She was very observant and noticed that the soup/ sauce was kind of overflowing and spilling onto the table. Other than that, she also gave us tips on how to better enjoy our meal like to remove the chilli first and add it later if we wanted it to be spicier (they refill clear soup).One dish other than the fish that was memorable was the rice cake! Texture was like mochi and the base was sesame. Crisp ok the outside and soft and chewy on the inside.
Ordering was a bit confusing at first as we were told to scan an app to get a discount of $5 but the app was not linked to the restaurant. As I was with two friends who don't speak Chinese it was tough as the waiter serving us does not seem to know English. After figuring out the avocado app was not for ordering, we had the privilege of an Indian waiter who was able to give us good advice. The welcoming platter was a nice touch and we managed to order the grilled fish with green pepper. We were also able to change to a table that did not blast the aircon at us and it was a cosy setup. Food was served fairly promptly and the drinks in a tower was quite fun.All in it was a v pleasant experience for all of us as we have heard so much about the restaurant but had not the chance to eat the fish. We order the limbo whole fish with some vegetables to go along! Nice on a wet and cold day:)The mutton skewers were not great 羊肉串as the mutton was tough! I have eaten better ones elsewhere!Good advice by the waiter too to put the green peppers aside first so that it is not too spicy!All in a v pleasant experience.
I love their scallion noodle. Perfectly seasoned and nicely cooked! This outlet has the best scallion noodle. I’ve tried their noodle in other outlets. Sometimes it’s over cooked/ or it’s not well seasoned.The 羊肉串, 羊骚味is strong. Some portion is not chewable. On the average only.Now they have a welcome platter for diners even for one pax.
I normally go to the grilled spicy fish at Bugis Cube and this is the first time I eat at Tanyu (after seeing their commercials hundreds of times). The service is exceptional and very friendly. The atmosphere and design are very nice. The fish is also very good. One thing I would improve is a bigger list of appetizers (veggies).
I have been to the other outlet in orchard. I thought I just try this outlet. The food was good and service was fairly quick.I was there after 2.30pm so there was only about 4 tables. Everything was presented nicely and quickly. The service staff came around to top up the soup of the grilled fish.The price for 2 pax about $114.00 which is kind of pricey. Overall the quality of food was good.

Will like to praise Mr Weoi Hann from Tampines 1 outlet Tanyu for his patience and effort in providing good customer service to us while we dine there. He patiently help to make the flower balloons for us, which is not an easy task due to us having 7 guests , yet he is so willingly to help make the flowers balloon for us before we end our meal.
Delicious 🤤! Fish is grilled and then put into a soup base. Pricing is a little bit above average and the portion is enough for 4 persons.

This is the 1st time I had my meal at TANYU & I do love the fish :-)Like most of the eating places we placed order via our mobile & it was quite easy… however the waiting time was a killer… & this is not exaggerating but one of the diners sitting diagonally opposite our table actually fell asleep as the waiting time was more than half an hour zzzzFood wise, nice & appetizing so we actually ate quite a bit of rice which we normally dun 🤭 they have options for you to choose whether you prefer spicy or non spicy so that’s nice!Will definitely be back to try other dishes.

Food was rather salty for almost every dish including the pickled bamboo. The on-tap grapefruit, lemon drink is mostly ice, feedback to manager and was told it only serves 5 of their stainless drinking cup. Well it only served 4 full cups. Need to either wait at least an hour for 1/4 of the ice to melt or add bought mineral water. They do not add in-house water even though we told them we ordered flavoured drink & not ice 😄 oh well I suppose they wanna make a big margin out of these glass fountain drink dispensers. Perhaps better value to get the individual drinks.
Wah, what a fantastic dinner I recently had at 探鱼 in TANYU Tampines 1! This place is very comfortable which is an awesome spot for dinner.I dived into their grilled fish with green pepper, sipped on some iced barley drink, and savored a tasty chicken skewer.The grilled fish was fresh and with the soup base, it had this amazing spicy kick that hit all the right spots. The chicken skewer was bursting with flavor and a nice add-on to switch a different palette on your taste buds. The iced barley's sweetness was just nice and refreshing after eating all those spices.Talk about a satisfying meal bro!
I had the pleasure of dining at Tan Yu in Tampines One, and I must say, the food was absolutely brilliant. Every dish was bursting with flavor, and the fish was incredibly tender. Food is quite yummy but service is not to the point we like.We took a voucher here and checked with them whether we can use it in their restaurant, they said yes but when we done the lunch and checked out at the counter, the casher said we can't use it as it is only for jewel branch, we told them we checked with their staff before we ordered .. she told us he is wrong.... Then refused us to redeem !!! Quite uncomfortable!!

There is kid set for my kid as well.

We've tried their other branch before so know that their food is good.Green pepper flavour was my favourite.Today accidentally ordered a non spicy flavour, Garlic flavour, and it was non spicy enough to bring out the best taste of the grilled fish. Dear Restaurant Management Team,My friends and I visited your establishment last night, but unfortunately, we were quite disappointed with the service we received. Firstly, upon being seated, the staff merely informed us about ordering via the QR code on the table and did not offer any further assistance. Moreover, when I attempted to scan the QR code to place an order, another staff member rudely tossed a tablet onto our table, which was quite off-putting.Secondly, we were not informed in advance about which dishes were unavailable. As a result, several items we tried to order were out of stock, including some of the specialties we were looking forward to, leaving us quite disappointed.Lastly, we were asked to settle the bill at the counter before even finishing half of our meal, making us feel rushed and unable to fully enjoy our dining experience.I hope that your restaurant will prioritize customer experience and improve the quality of service and procedures. This includes enhancing the politeness and professionalism of the staff, promptly informing customers about the availability of dishes, and optimizing the payment process to ensure a better dining experience for all patrons. Happened to chance upon this shop at Waterway and decided to give it a try. We ordered the Seabass in Soy sauce with added set of luncheon meat, lotus, mushrooms and potatoes. Overall food was great and fish was fresh. Waiting time took around 30min.
The fish is very tender and tastes good. It’s totally okay to eat with children. I will come again next time! The environment is also ok!
The green pepper & garlic flavours (two separate occasions, on two separate days & I believe the latter flavour is seasonal!) were simply delish. The former is the most popular option & has a distinct heat to it while perfectly complementing the tender fish, while the latter is full of garlic and balances well with the broth. The fish is always well cooked and consistently fresh. What stands out every time we dine in tan yu is the sizzling broth (chock full of flavour & oh-so-addictive!) that the servers will top up periodically, as the meal progresses. Always a delight to dine in tan yu!

The big surprise was the sides which in my opinion warrants a visit alone, skip the fish order the king oyster mushrooms with vinegar! The mushrooms were sliced thinly and has a nice meaty bite combined with the crunchy onions and green/red peppers in a sour sauce made it an instant favourite! The grilled lamb skewers was also excellent with a good bite and nice meat to fats ratio with only a nice hint of gameyness. Will definitely be back for the sides but I'll pass on the fish.
This is my favourite Tanyu restaurant outlet. I love Tanyu a lot. One of my Must Go restaurants when I have the craving for fish. The service is good here as well. Plus free tibits!
Visited on the 7th of March with my husband. The service was excellent! The toppings were full, and the fish was delicious. Clarice, one of the waitress, had a little Australian accent when speaking English. I felt comfortable communicating with her. I would love to dine in again some time soon.

We tried the takeaway version and we request for fish fillet with no bones and it really came with no bones. We could eat it easily without worry of swallowing bones accidentally. The taste is also consistent as compared with eating in restaurants.
I’m a big fan of FISH🤣 When I say it’s nice, it’s really nice🤣 It’s my first. So I tried the commonly ordered grilled fish with green pepper. I thought it will be SUPER SPICY. But nah… Piece of cakeyyyy🤣🤧So first, when the first is here, you gotta wait for it to reheat maybe 5mins-10mins? They said the Signature ones are the most spicy in the menu. August 2023 Review. Overall is Good. Most of the staff are attentive. Except that when i requested less chili for the signature fish, it did not fulfill . But fortunately the fish taste overall is Good. Gravy is delicious. I order the no/less bone fish type , the meat is fresh and delicious. Customer service is good too. Would i be back ? My go-to shop for grilled fish. We had 2 fish 1 frog this time round. However service was slow and staffs were inattentive. Had a lady which insisted that we ordered a bowl of plain noodles when we didn’t. We told her we didn’t order but she just left it on our table and walked away.葱油面was dry and tasteless. First time visit this place although I have heard about how tasty the food is. The queue is very long on a Friday evening, fortunately we have reserved a table in advance.We ordered green chilli fish, garlic fish, scallion noodles, rice cake, lime & lemon juice. Very satisfied with the quality, all the food taste so good and fresh. I will definitely visit again.

We got the number plate at about 8.45-50 minutes, but when we waited for the last order, we still hadn’t entered. The waiter asked us if we still wanted to eat after the last order. We wanted to say that we had already waited, so we said we still wanted to eat. Thank you for your help. We arranged seats, but nothing happened when we went in to order food. I hope they can strengthen training. They should first tell us that if there is no seat for us after the last order, we will not be able to eat, or we should ask what kind of meal we are eating when we line up. Order and let us know in advance if the meal is still available

Ordered the soy sauce flavour as we were worried about the spice. Taste is good, but gets very salty very quickly when the soup boils down. Can request for top up of soup base to dilute it. Good place to slowly eat and catch up with friends.

This place is a great option for enjoying fried fish in town. The initial taste is fantastic, but it can become a bit salty over time.The prices are on the higher side too.If you're planning to dine with a group of 8 people, be aware that this outlet doesn't have a dedicated large table. They usually merge two smaller tables, which might still feel quite cramped for a party of that size.
First time trying. Definitely a good one. Not a spice-tolerant person but the fish and soup were really delicious before the rest of the spice mixed in. Then it was too spicy for me. But the food was really good. The drink portion was really big too for a single person. Atmosphere was good too, but my one complaint is that some of the staff members were behind our table talking loudly and laughing, I think while on their break. It felt a bit intruding for my family dinner but it's a small issue as it was only for a short while.
